Dear Landon,
I have to admit, I’ve stopped keeping track of your age in months. When people ask, I say “between 1.5 and 2 years,” and that’s close enough for most people. Still, I suppose I should say that you are 20 months old today. It’s been a busy month for you too.
As of this month, you are CRIB FREE! You now sleep in your New Awesome Car Bed in your New Mint Green Bedroom (the former playroom), which is decorated in Cars themed items, and contains a TV with a screen that is bigger than you are. Also, yesterday, we got you your very first pillow.
You’ve begun to give kisses, which is just too cute. When asked for a kiss, you will make an appropriate kiss noise, although you still don’t pucker up your lips.
We’ve made some great leaps in the potty training department, but you always seem to backslide. I’m thinking its going to be another couple of months before we get you potty trained. Basically, you totally get that we want you to peepee in the potty. You totally get that you get a Smartie when you do peepee. When set on the potty, you will attempt to pee, even if you don’t need to go. A few drops in the pot, and you want your candy. Most of the time you either pee a bunch, or not at all, but you almost always try. The problem is that you don’t ask to go, or tell us you want to go. Also, still no poo in the potty.
You have had a language explosion this month. You have so many freaking words, and new ones coming all the time. I mean, you carry on mini conversations now that actually make some sense!
You say so many freaking words, and come out with new and surprising things every day. Some examples include: Nose, chin, ears, eyes, belbow (elbow), toes, nanana (banana) cup, Dice! chair, Laura, Damia, Dirk, “laara” (elaira), dog, cat, car, baby, apple, applesauce, door, bath, peepee, truck, bus, bye bye, yeah, no, okay, see ya later, and so much more. That barely scratches the surface, and more new words seem to come every day.
You also say No! and Okay. If asked a question, such as, “Landon, do you need to go peepee?” you will answer “NO!”
However, if I say, “Landon, it’s time to go peepee in the potty, okay?” You respond with “Kay.” You also know ask for the Cars movie by name. You’ll point at the TV and say “Cars?” over and over again until it’s put on or you are distracted.
I know I’m in trouble now, because of what happened the other morning in the car. . I talk to cars, I yell at cars, and I often cuss while driving, although I’ve been working to cut back. So, you and I were getting off the freeway, and the cars in front of us were slowing way down for the green light. I wanted to make the light and thought we might not because of the slowing, so I yelled, “GO! GO! GO!” at the cars. In the back seat, you piped in with a “go, go, go.” You’re parroting me while I drive!!!! NO!!!!!
You also love books. You’ve gotten very good at being able to point out pictures in books when asked to point at objects in books, as well as singing songs. I am just floored by how your communication has taken off the past month! You’re doing great on all the physical milestones too, and can run and climb stairs like a toddler should!
We turned off the baby monitor. In your new room, if you really get going we can hear you. Also, you can get up and come out of your room and stand in the hallway, so we can really hear you when you do that. It’s been nice not waking up to every little noise you makes, and just these two nights I’ve been sleeping much better. Every night, when I tuck you in, you I give you your Pooh Bear. Every once in a while, since moving to the car bed, you accidentally loose Pooh over the side. Daddy or I will get up with you at night when you lose your Pooh Bear, we can hear you without the monitor just fine. You don’t carry the bear around or ask for it or anything, but I give it to you when I tuck you in bed at night. Luckily, you leave the bear in bed, so it’s always there.
You only want me to tuck you in, not Daddy. I don’t know why the sudden preference.
We both love you very much, no matter what.
Love always,
Mama
