I just love his big brown chocolate eyes. They are so much more brown than mine.

Photography is awesome

I’m really enjoying this photography thing.

Also, I feel weird that I’m a “small business owner”

I really need to start getting a few paying shoots so I can buy some photography toys I want, like a new tripod and some lighting.

I had another great shoot this past weekend. This was my favorite, but it is totally due to his expression that makes me love it.

I’ve got to do some work on the website. I’ve got one more “free” photo shoot I’m going to do next weekend, and then I may start looking for paying clients at that point. I do have a quasi, very informal wedding to photograph in April. I suspect it will look more like a birthday party, but that’s cool. I’m doing that one for free as well.

I also have two families I owe a free shoot to.

There are some newborn shoots that I plan to do, hopefully anyway. I think I can line up three or four free newborn shoots for practice, and then move on to doing them for money. I’d also like to volunteer for (warning, VERY TRIGGERING, do not go to this website unless you want to cry.) Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep at some point in the future. I can’t yet. I couldn’t handle it right now, it’s still too close to home with how ill Ollie was and everything. But it’s important to me to do it, once I feel a little more comfortable behind the camera and Ollie is a little older.

Anyway, advice, pointer, feedback, especially if you were one of my guinea pigs, (or if you were not, but want to tell me what you like/don’t like about what you see) is always welcome, preferably in the form of email if critical.

I really would love it if this photography stuff took off. It would be amazing to do this for pay. Not to mention, I love feeling like I have something to offer people. Something to donate, something to make, something I do. I’m so inept at artsy stuff normally. This has just been so amazing.

Also, if you get a chance, I’d really appreciate it if you would Like my business page on facebook

I am the almighty Game Master

Can I just say that I really enjoy running Deadlands (Savage Worlds) for my friends every other Friday? I enjoy the game so much. My players are awesome and funny. I laugh harder at the Deadlands game every week than I do all week long. The group is overlarge and that slows up the combat, but it is just so worth it.

When we last left our intrepid heroes they had just finished up another section of the canned adventure I’ve been running. Now we have to take a break from it and run a couple mini adventures. Think of the canned adventure as the overarching story, and this week’s adventure as a monster of the week episode. (A side note for the non-gamers, Deadlands is a tabletop role-playing game set in the old west with a healthy dose of scary supernatural creatures like Zombies and Monsters.)

Honestly it amuses me that recently I’ve been enjoying running Deadlands more than playing in other games.

Landon’s allergy

Landon had his annual appointment with his allergist. His numbers continue to slowly climb. It’s frustrating because there is nothing further we can do other than what we are already doing. He said that, medically speaking, this is basically the same result as last year, and he seemed to think this was a good thing. He felt Landon still has a slight chance of outgrowing the milk allergy by the time he’s 12, but not a great chance. We went ahead, with Landon starting Kindergarten, and got an Emergency Plan and a prescription for an Epi-pen.

I really didn’t think it would hurt so much to get this news. I thought this was what I was expecting. “Slightly worse, here is a just in case Epi pen.” But when they told me, I wanted to cry. I’ve been sort of melancholy and depressed ever since the appointment. I’m grateful that Landon doesn’t seem to have any other major issues. I’m grateful my kids are healthy. But sometimes this food allergy thing just really upsets me.

Overall, Landon is happy and healthy and enjoying playing hooky from school today. He is 42.5 inches tall and weighs 42.5 lbs. They commented that he’s rather square!

Here are Landon’s numbers, for my reference:
Test on:

2/12/2010: 24.60 kU/L Class 4 Ige 150 Iu/ML
2/25/09 19.10 class 4H IgE 155H
Test in Feb 08 was 12.57
Test in Feb 07 was 7.98

This past weekend was fun. We ended up watch Laura’s kids for the weekend. Laura’s kids are spaced in such a way that they really could be “our kids” in some alternate reality. I’m saying its physically possible that Bobby and I could have been parents to the whole batch of children we watched. Laura’s girls are 10 and 11. Her son is six. It was pretty neat to see what life was like with five kids. Some of it was harder, some it was easier. It was totally more expensive, but that is partly because we took them out to eat and shopping and generally spoiled them and sugared them up. In the end, I’m glad we have two kids and not five kids, even though we had a really fun time with them.

Book recommendation

I’ve been not posting because I’ve been reading. About two weeks ago I picked up book two of Night Huntress World Books By Jeaniene Frost. Bobby had bought it for me at used book store a couple of months ago, and I finally decided to read it. I was so sucked in that in the past two weeks, I’ve read the entire series, twice. So needless to say, I highly recommend it. I’ve been doing a lot of reading recently as a result. I missed reading on a regular basis. Mind you, new tech is not helping me anymore. I read part of it on my Kindle, then I go to my computer and find it on my Kindle for PC. Later I’ll be out and about, waiting for something, so I bring the book up on the app on my phone and read for a bit. No matter where I go or what I do, I’ve got the book with me. And the book will auto sync across devices, so I never lose my page. It makes it hard for me to stop reading. Anyway, if you like Sookie/Twilight/paranormal/urban fantasy/romance type stuff, you’ll really like these. (It was way better than Twilight, so even if you hate Twilight but like other Vampire type stuff, you would like it.)
